We have all seen little children who panic and cry their eyes out when mom and dad are leaving, they are feeling separation anxiety, which they usually outgrow within a period of time. But did you ever think that your dog could be feeling the same type of anxiety and distress when left home alone?

It’s frightening, it’s frustrating, it’s definitely not funny! In fact, it feels like a battle to keep your dog from bolting out the door everytime it gets opened. So why does your dog do it and how can you help prevent it?
It’s wintertime and it’s cold outside, so before you head out the door to take Fido on his daily walk, you prepare yourself with coat, hat, gloves and possibly boots…and for your dog, you grab his leash! Is that really all he needs to be safe, warm and comfortable?
Just like their humans, dogs can become overweight…again, just like humans, the weight creeps up before you even recognize that it’s happening. Before you know it, your dog is fat! Wat are you going to do about it?
When your dog starts barking unnecessarily and excessively, should you begin shouting at him/her to be quiet? If they hear your irritation, will they understand that you want them to stop? Probably not! Your dog may interpret your loudness as you joining in his “fun”, and you most likely will stimulate him with your shouting. So that won’t help. So, what should you do?
Got a new puppy? How fun! Except when you come home and find one of your favorite shoes or one of your throw pillows in chewed to shreds all over the living room floor. This might not make you feel any better, but you’re in good company…most new puppy owners face the same situation.
